The Surprising Whites of William Stone's Estate Settlement

We already learned that William Stone's widow, Lucy, remarried to John White.  Their marriage took place about three years after Stone's death.  Their domestic life together comes alive on the below, third page of William Stone's estate settlement. Entries for Mr. and Mrs. White began just three months after their marriage in August 1784 and included:

November 1, 1784 "To an order on Robert Gilbert in favor of Mrs. White" £5.0
January 18, 1785 "To ditto Joseph Binns for work done upon Mr. White's house" £2.18
January 20, 1785 "To 759 # pork for the use of Mrs. White's family" £8.13
April 12, 1785 "To ditto paid Lucy White for the use of her family" £3.3
January 25, 1786 "To ditto received by Mr. White for a still" £18.4

But the really SURPRISING White surname entry in William Stone's estate settlement is shown in the below image.  On September 10, 1789, the following entry was made, "....ditto paid to Thomas Williamson in part of a judgement of Barrett White's Exors against Stones".  Then the following writing was inserted above this entry, "expns omitted July 11, 1785".

Holy Smokes!  Somehow William's Stone's estate was involved in Barrett White's estate!  What connections could the two estates (or men) possibly have had?  The amount paid to Thomas Williamson on behalf of Barrett White's estate was £ 4.10 which apparently is the modern day equivalent of approximately $650 according to the Pounds Sterling to Dollars: Historical Conversion of Currency  .  The entry implied that the expense was paid on July 8, 1785 but wasn't recorded until September 10, 1789.  What possible connections could Barrett White of Hanover County (who died February 18, 1782 almost one year after William Stone's death) have had with William Stone of Henrico County?

Looking further, the three entries below the Barrett White estate entry also seem to be connected through a related court ruling.  They are:

February 2, 1790 "ditto paid Philip White as a witness of White's Exors against Stones" £2.5
March 1, 1790 "ditto paid Stephen Pankey...ditto in attending the same suit"  £7.15
March 1, 1790 "cash paid Andrew Ronald for a decree of the court to have the estate of William Stone divided"  £3.0

So, what did William Stone, Barrett White, Philip White, Stephen Pankey and Andrew Ronald all have in common?
